About this item
A good quality, early 19th century, two part butter mould for moulding a three dimensional wheat sheaf. This is really well carved, with fabulous depth and definition. Originally there would have been pegs in two of the corners, to hold it together, but one of these is now missing. Early examples of this type of mould are now quite difficult to find complete and this is a particularly good one.
