About this item
A lovely, early Victorian carved wooden butter print. This piece is very well carved, in beechwood, with a cow in a field. The carving is quite deep and it is very well detailed. It dates from c.1840. Originally there was a hole through the middle of the print. This was known as an Oxford print and you blew through the hole to help to release the butter (not very hygienic). This hole has now been filled with wax. There is a very fine, and tight, crack to the rim which is about 1.5cm. long but otherwise the print is in very good condition.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £15. Western Europe add £8.
