About this item
A rare, 18th century, double ended sycamore butter print. This is carved with a flower and foliage to the square end and a stylised flower to the circular end. On the side of the square print it is also carved with the initials “M.J.” These were probably the initials of the carver. This is a charming little print and the carving is quite primitive in style. It is possibly Welsh and dates from c.1790. The wood has a very attractive, pale patina.
Condition: There is a small piece of wood missing from one of the corners of the square end and there is a hairline crack to one side. This is from where the wood has dried out over the centuries.
Dimensions: Diameter of circular print 3.5cm. Square print 3.7cm by 3.5cm. Length of print and handle 5.7cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £10. Most of Western Europe add £5
