    About this item

A rare and charming, early nineteenth century, two part butter mould carved with a sheep. This is carved in beechwood and the carving is very deep and well defined. It is quite naive in style and it dates from c.1820. It would originally have had wooden pegs to hold it together but these have broken off in the holes. The wood has a lovely, pale patina. There is very slight cracking in the wood, where it has dried out over the years, but other than that it is in very good condition.

    Probably Welsh. Date c.1820

    Dimensions: Length 12.7cm. Height 9cm. Depth 5.5cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
