    About this item

A nineteenth century, butter print carved with a flower. This is carved from sycamore and it dates from c.1840. The carving of the flower is extremely well detailed. Originally this had a hole running through the centre of the print and down the length of the handle. This type of print was known as an Oxford print and the hole allowed you to blow down the centre of the handle to release the butter more easily. The hole has been filled, on the face, probably by someone who didn’t realise the significance of it. There are a couple of short cracks to the rim and there are also a few wood worm holes but this has all been treated.

Dimensions: Diameter 9.2cm. Length of print and handle 6.5cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
