    About this item

A wonderful example of a mid 16thc brass single candlestick...it has two ornately turned knops which are conical shaped at the top and upside down acorn below.... it stands on a broad rising double plinth base. The candlestick has been cast in four separate parts and is joined to the base by "peening" over the base of the central column.....what always make these early sticks desirable is the patinated natural colour of the brass....it is such a shame when they get overcleaned...as you can see this has a superb natural colour...!

    German.  C1550-C1580.
