About this item
A pair of Rat de Cave brass candlestick holders. Solid aged brass - unpolished. The handle mechanism moves slowly up the coiled column pushing a candle upwards as it is used. The handle is known as "the rat's tail". The origins of this design go back centuries when French monks used these candlesticks in the Burgundy wine cellars. Original felt underneath candlesticks. Weighted and stable candlesticks with adjustable height. Great country collection pieces
