A Fabulous Large Carved Framed Painted Louis XV Rococo Revival Mirror

A mid-20th century (circa 1955) monumental Louis XV Rococo Revival mirror with an elaborately hand-carved wooden frame finished in distressed antique white paint.

A magnificent large painted carved wood wall mirror, dating to approximately 1955, featuring an imposing Louis XV Rococo Revival design. The substantial hand-carved wooden frame is richly decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves, floral garlands, shell motifs, and pierced foliate ornament. The impressive crest is centred by an ornate cartouche, balanced by symmetrical scrolling flourishes, while the lower apron echoes the decorative theme with finely carved floral details.

The frame has been finished in a beautifully aged distressed white painted patina, allowing traces of the underlying wood and older layers of finish to show through, giving the mirror exceptional depth and character. The bevelled mirror plate is surrounded by an unusually deep moulded frame, enhancing its architectural presence.

This oversized mirror makes a dramatic statement in entrance halls, drawing rooms, hotels, boutiques, restaurants, or period and contemporary interiors alike. It can be displayed leaning against a wall or professionally wall-mounted.
