About this item
A very fine 19th Century giltwood overmantle or hall mirror of rectangular form. The mirror glass plate is set within a hand carved and moulded giltwood frame with beaded detail and a further outer border embellished with intricate floral and ruffle motifs, carved in low relief against textured ground. Surmounted with elaborate, pierced cartouche with centred shell, flowerheads and bell husks flanked with scrolling foliate, finely carved in high relief, supported on shaped platform base.
