About this item
An interesting, reclaimed, cast iron fire front. The fire front has a mantel with decorative border below it. The centre of the fire front has a panel style design with a decorative border and flowers in each corner. The fire front has a domed smoke hood and an industrial style ash cover or front bar. The front bar has the makers name Flavel of Leamington on it. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire front has a registered design number and although it is hard to read, we believe it is RD666862 or similar, dating it to 1919. The fire front is ideal for decorative purposes in a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire front is in good antique condition with some signs of use and some damage, as expected. The iron has some casting marks and pitting, especially to the mantel edge and the middle of the fire front. The back of the fire front has surface rust. The back of the smoke hood, seen on the reverse of the fire front, has sustained a break (seen in last pictures). Please see pictures for condition details. The fire front has a very nice appearance that would work in modern or period houses. The fire front is an interesting reclaimed item that would add great character to a home.
