FS0460 A LARGE RECLAIMED ANTIQUE CAST IRON FIRE / WOOD BURNER / RANGE SURROUND

An original, reclaimed, antique cast iron fire / wood burner / range surround, likely to date to pre 1890. The large surround has a simple and traditional period design with plain corbels at the top of the legs and rounded front corners to the mantel. The iron has been blacked and polished. There are two fixing lugs, one on each side, under the mantel, for fixings for attaching the surround to the wall. There are tabs at the back of the mantel, designed for sinking into the wall but you could cut them off if you preferred. 

The surround is in good antique condition with some signs of age as expected. The mantel has some unevenness and pitting and there are some surface cracks to the back edge. The iron has some small knocks, casting marks, scuffs and scratches. The finish has some slight streaking. The back has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround is a nice example of period design and its classic design would suit many types of interior. The surround is ideal for finishing a fireplace or surrounding a wood burner.
