About this item
This is an exceptional 19th Century English antique marquetry and ormolu centre table of exhibition quality attributed to Edward Holmes Baldock. Finely constructed, the burr maple top with an ebony banding enclosing a marquetry chain of flower motifs inlaid in specimen stained woods, set within a kingwood boarder and cast ormolu edge. The table stands on equally as exquisite marquetry inlaid tripartite feet, having concealed brass castors, with finely chased foliate ormolu mounts and rosettes, joining to a central shaped baluster stem veneered in contrasting dark burr wood and inlaid tulipwood, having ormolu finials to the base and round foliate ormolu mounts to the feet.
