About this item
HUGE AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
LOUISE PATTERN
Wedgwood Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England
c. 1885
This very large Victorian aesthetic 20 " x 16 " platter is transfer printed in dark brown. This is the largest size platter made in Wedgwood aesthetic wares.
The pattern features geometric cartouches with exotic designs, sailing ships and far away landscapes. Hidden in the flowering branches is a lovely Songbird. An exceptional pattern in a good strong dark brown transfer.
Condition is great with no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, and no repairs. Normal utensil marks consistent with use. Remarkable condition in such a fantastic large size and the contrast and composition is especially beautiful in this rich brown color.
