About this item
A pretty late 18th century creamware dessert serving dish by Neale & Co, quite deep, set on 4 shell shaped feet with grooved texture running up the walls to a shaped wavy rim with central scrolled detail. Decorated in puce enamel with feather edging and printed classical scene of ruins in the centre. c.1785-1790.
Unmarked save an impressed "4"; other identical pieces in shape and pattern can be found in larger services where the larger pieces have the full factory mark. I also have another one for sale if you are interested in a pair.
It measures 27cm / 10 5/8" wide, 15.5cm / 6 1/8" deep and 6cm / 2 3/8"" high.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Surface wear is light, just some small losses in places to the enamel on the rim. There are some underglaze speckles of discoloration.
