    About this item

A charming late 18th century pottery figure of a cockerel with a Whieldon type creamware glaze. Moulded feather detail to the body, wings and tail, eyes, comb and wattles, with a hollow base, c.1770.

    It measures 10.5cm (4 1/8") high, 9cm (3 1/2") long and 4.2cm (1 5/8") wide.

Condition is very good: there is a small frit to his beak and a tiny glaze flake to the base. No other damage or restoration. There are a couple of firing cracks on one side, a slight misalignment of the 2 sides of the beak and head which is unglazed and a small unglazed area to the tail on one side.
