    About this item

A fine Worcester porcelain soup plate decorated in the atelier of James Giles in the pattern known as the "Lady Mary Wortley Montagu" pattern with three large shaped reserves with a blue scale ground painted with exotic fancy birds. A central circular reserve is painted with flowers and fruit and rich ornate raised gilding is applied over the scale blue ground in between. Blue fretted square mark to the base, c.1770.

    It measures 22.7cm (8 7/8") wide and 3.9cm (1 1/2") deep.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Some minor losses to the raised gilding, light wear to that on the rim, and only minor surface wear to the enamel.
