A good quality large Chinese famille verte plate, Kangxi
A good quality and decorative Chinese famille verte plate, dating from the Kangxi period. The centre of the plate is painted in underglaze blue with circular flower heads and scrolling foliage. Outside this on the cavetto is a band of carved scrolling and stylised flower heads. The rim has been richly decorated with a band of birds, flowers and foliage alternating with panels painted with deer and cranes. The back of the dish has two leaf scrolls carved around the rim. Diameter 25cm (9.8").
A similar, but larger, plate is in the collection of the Rijksmuseum (accession number AK-RBK-14730).
Date: Kangxi c1700-20
Condition: There is one consolidated hairline running from the rim to the foot rim and two small restored rim chips. There is one small rim frit.
