    About this item

    AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATE

    DAFFODIL PATTERN

    W. H. Grindley and Co. Potteries

    Tunstall, Staffordshire England  c. 1882

This Victorian aesthetic 9 1/2 " plate is transfer printed in dark chocolate brown.

The pattern features impressed flower swag finger tabs along the rim and repeating vignettes of luscious Daffodils.  Oversized daffodils grace the well of the cake plate with a landscape scene of a young boy watching a sailing vessel rounding a castle.

The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Grindley, a pottery maker working in Tunstall in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.

Never Used.  The plate is in great condition.
