About this item
A very stylish Art Deco art pottery Czech vase decorated with jewel patterning set with scroll and shell designs made by Amphora and dating between 1918 and 1939 and possibly 1924. This finely made hand-crafted and painted vase is of tall bulbous shape and molded in relief with four panels with scroll and shell designs set with raised jewel like designs decorated in brightly colored glazes and set against a matt rough cast textured speckled brown ground. Further sections of scale patterning containing jewels is applied around the lower body with the upper rim also decorated with colored raised jewels below a cobalt blue glazed rim. This stunning vase has printed AMPHORA marks to the base along with a large letter R (possibly an artist mark) and is numbered 944 with a II mark probably denoting the size. There is also an impressed 24 possibly relating to the date made.
