ENGLISH BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATE
RUSTIC PATTERN
Burgess and Leigh ~ Hill Pottery ~ Staffordshire England 1886
This large Victorian aesthetic 10 3/8 " dinner plate is transfer printed in blue.
The pattern features a bird in flight over an urn filled with flowers. Exotic fruit and berries along with a multitude of flowers frame the aesthetic cartouche of a distant country landscape. Wonderful geometric designs complete the plate.
The piece is marked on the underside with the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Burgess and Leigh, a pottery maker working in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The piece is in great condition, clean shiny and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs. light utensil wear.
