About this item
A large Belgian Blue art pottery faience vase, dating to approximately 1900. It is made of quite heavy earthenware with the characteristic cobalt blue and green glaze round the top and bottom, with incised floral patterning around the shoulders. The front and back of the vase feature panels of an ochre coloured glaze with applied scenes of cockerels and hens with incised detailing.
The base of the vase is impressed 'Belgium' but bears no maker's marks, as is common on these earlier pieces.
