A rare English art pottery Boer War mug portraying Paul Kruger designed by renowned British ceramic artist, painter and writer Blanche Georgiana Vulliamy (English/Belgian, 1869-1923) and dated 1900. The earthenware mug is of small size and thickly potted in cylindrical shape and made in two joined halves with a flat top handle applied to the side. The mug has a grotesque bearded face molded in relief to the front, an image of Paul Kruger and is molded in relief with the words Oom Paul Bogia (Uncle Paul) and is dated 1900. The mug is hand painted in colors with a brown handle and cream glazes to the inner mug and base and bears the initials SP within the design. The mug has a molded REGD mark to the base.
Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.
In good condition with wear associated to age and use.
