About this item
An attractive Bow porcelain figure of a young shepherd on a scrolled base with a dog at his side and plating a recorder. Painted in bright enamels and gilt over a white ground. Red anchor and dagger mark to the base c.1760-1764.
Provenance: Highgate Antiques.
It measures 15.8cm (6 1/4") high and 6.3cm (2 1/2") by 6.1cm (2 3/8") wide.
In very good condition. There has been some professional touching up to the hands and flute; the porcelain underneath appears fine so it is most likely just repair work underneath rather than fabrication. A small section of the hat brim has been invisibly restored. A flower has been lost from the base and one other appears to have been reattached and lightly touched up. No other issues and very minor handling wear.
