    About this item

A Georgian bucket shape coffee can by Chamberlain's with ring handle and painted with a burnt orange enamel ground reserving white lotus type flowers on a gilt flowering vine. Geometric gilt borders around the rim and foot. Inside the base is a painted armorial. Unmarked, c.1815

    It measures 7cm (2 3/4") high, 7cm (2 3/4") rim to rim and 9.5cm (3 3/4") rim to handle.

Good overall condition: there is a bruise to the inside of the rim with a small glaze loss. The whole fault sits over a concentrated area of kiln dust and I'm confident it is a firing defect. Further kiln dust spotting to the edge of the inside of the base. Some light handling wear overall; more so to the gilt inside the rim and to the edges of the geometric bands.
