About this item
A very nice Regency period porcelain cup from the Chamberlain's factory in Worcester, c.1815. Baden shape, flared from the base, with a kidney shape handle. A pretty chinoiserie pattern, number 767, with an oriental gentleman in a landscape with pagoda and other building structure. Delicate enamels in pale green, blue, buff and pink alongside the more usual imari red and mazarine blue. Much of the detail of the scene is defined with gilding including the main tree branches and all the details on the buildings, everything is edged with gilt and further gilt bands at and inside the rims and down the handle. Unmarked.
It measures 6.4cm (2 1/2") high and 7.2cm (2 7/8") rim to rim.
In good condition: there is a tiny nick to the outside of the rim but no other damage or repair and no discernible handling wear.
