About this item
A pretty early 19th century Chamberlain's porcelain scent bottle and stopper with an unusual underglaze blue, gilt edged reserving white vermicelli style ground. A large reserve framed with gilt scrolls is painted with garden flowers in bright enamels. A cork bottomed stopper decorated with gilt. Unmarked, c.1835.
It measures 14.5cm (5 3/4") high and 7cm (2 3/4") wide.
It displays very well but has been neatly repaired at the base of the shaft and a repair to the tip of the stopper. Minimal handling wear. The surface is finely crazed from manufacture.
