About this item
An early Worcester porcelain pedestal sauceboat, with relief moulded decoration of scrolls and arabesques framing reserves on either side painted with the uncommon Triangular Platform pattern, c1755. Inside the base is a large oriental floral spray with butterfly and similar detailed decoration runs inside the rim including a further butterfly and a small diaper panel in front of the handle. Unmarked.
Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section I.B.19.
It measures 19.5cm (7 5/8") long, 8.5cm (3 3/8") wide and 9.8cm (3 7/8") high.
Condition is very good: there is a fine short hairline adjacent to a nick on the rim to the left as the spout looking front on. No other issues, damage or restoration and very minor handling wear, very good for age. The painting is lovely and clear, just fractionally thin at the very rim in a couple of places.
