Chinese famille noire porcelain vase Qing dynasty, 19th century Porcelain with enamel decoration and carved wood stand Rim reduced, otherwise in good condition with general age related wear Black ground with prunus blossom and bird decorationDescription
A Chinese famille noire porcelain vase, painted with birds among flowering prunus on a black ground, in the Kangxi taste and likely dating to the late 19th century.
The white blossom is laid on in dense clusters against the black enamel, with turquoise and pale green branches cutting across the body and birds set among them at different heights. Lower down, the painter has brought in rockwork, fenced garden forms, and rooted plants.
This tall baluster vase sits pefectly on a carved and pierced wood stand. It truly is beautiful in shape and decoration, it will be loved for many years to come.
