About this item
An attractive large Regency period porcelain sugar box and cover by the Davenport manufactory. Circular bombe shape with ornate scrolled side handles with wide moulded acanthus leaf terminals and domed stepped cover with large flower form knop. Decorated in pattern 745 with rich underglaze mazarine blue with floral painted reserves and over decorated in gilt with gilded rims, handles and knop. Pattern number painted to the base and brown wreath factory mark, c.1818-1825.
It measures 14cm (5 1/2") high, 18cm (7") across the handles and 15cm (5 7/8") wide across the body.
In very good condition: there is a very small chip to the underside of the inner flange inside the pot and a short tight hairline to the inner flange of the cover. No other damage, repair or restoration; the knop and handles are fine, and very minor handling wear just to the gilt on the tips of the handles.
