About this item
A fine Derby kidney shape compotier very finely painted with a botanical study of Nasturtium after a late 18th century engraving by William Curtis, first edition 1794. Gilt painted rim. Red mark to the reverse and the named specimen in script, c.1806.
It measures 25cm (9 7/8") wide by 20.5cm (8 1/8") deep and 3.8cm (1 1/2") high.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. The surface is finely and evenly crazed as often is the case with these botanical dessert wares and there are a couple of small areas of very faint discolouration, one to the bottom left corner and some to the reverse. Minor handling wear, just a couple of very tiny nicks to the enamel and the gilding is excellent.
