About this item
Unusual shape coffee can by Derby in the "Paris flute" style with very fine vertical fluting from the base to just below the rim where the finish is smooth and finished with a high loop handle. The handle is gilded along with a wide band running inside and outside the rim with a wavy gold border and decorated with blue dots.
Red mark to the base. A breakfast cup version of this can is illustrated in Berthoud's Compendium Of British Cups plate 705.
It measures 8cm (3 1/8") high to the handle, 6.5cm (2 1/2") rim to rim and 8.8cm (3 3/8") rim to handle.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. There is a little rubbing to the gilding on the handle and a tiny bit in places on the upper band. Some craze lines under the base and some slight discolouration on the inside at the same area.
