EARLY CHILDS TRANSFERWARE MUG
PRESENT FOR A GOOD BOY
Staffordshire England ~ c. 1830
This is a childs reward mug, circa 1830. This piece stands 2 3/4 " tall x 2 7/8 " wide with an applied loop handle. The mug is light weight and beautifully potted.
Wonderful transfers of children at play surrounding a script reading " A Present for a Good Boy. Badminton on one side and Marbles on the other. The piece is unmarked. It most certainly was made in the Staffordshire district. Mugs like this were made as gifts for good children and rewards of merit.
The condition of this exceptional mug is good except for a tight stable hairline crack near the handle.
