VERY EARLY PEARLWARE PLATE
Staffordshire England ~ c. 1830
This fabulous earthenware antique plate measures 7 1/4 " in diameter. The plate has a slightly wavy edge with a moulded border of continuous flower heads and foliage. Transfer printed in black with polychrome hand painting under the glaze in bright colors.
But thou art dear unto my heart
More dear than Tongue can tell
And if a fault is cherished there
Tis loving thee too well
Light weight and beautifully potted. Appears to have never been used. There is an internal hairline per photos.
