This is a wonderful tall base and lid that once contained Caviar by appointment to the King. The paste inside came from Russia which produced the finest Caviar anywhere. Primarily packed in these beautiful pots for the upper class in England with the approval of the King.
The pot lid and base was made in the Staffordshire district by famed Doulton Pottery and is transfer printed in black against a cream earthenware glaze. 2 7/8 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches tall. The pieces are in great condition. The piece will make a great addition to any collection of transfer printed advertising wares or quack medicines, and would make a fabulous gift for the gentleman in your life!
