About this item
AESTHETIC MOVEMENT TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
INDUS PATTERN
Ridgways Potteries
Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire England
c. 1877
This Victorian aesthetic 14 " long x 11 1/4 " wide plate is transfer printed in brown against a white background. The pattern features some of the most outrageous looking birds the potteries artist could imagine. A rim of wildly tropical flowers with hummingbirds. An ornate garden house or pagoda sits in the background in the well of the platter with aquatic orchid and lily type flowers beneath two exotic birds. Hidden among the foliage is a birds nest complete with eggs. A marvel of the imagination.
Great Condition. Clean and bright.
