    About this item

Beautiful 1st period Worcester cup and saucer in an unusual form and rare pattern. The cup has 18 concave fluted sides with a slightly scalloped rim, the shape replicated in the saucer. The pattern has gros bleu panels with shaped cartouches to each filled with a different coloured butterfly or other insect. I cannot find an image of another the same. No gilding, the finer lines are picked out in black.

Blue seal mark dating from c.1770.

The cup measures 2" high, 3 1/4" wide rim to rim and 4" rim to handle. The saucer is 5 1/4" wide and 1" high.

Condition is very good. There is a tiny 1mm chip on the back of the saucer at the rim and a fleabite to the cup rim by the handle.
