About this item
A rare Worcester porcelain punch bowl of unusually large size, printed with the three flowers pattern on opposite faces with other floral sprays and butterflies interspersed between them. The inside has a large printed floral pattern based around two roses and a bellflower with various different floral sprays and grasses stemming from this group. It seems that it should be a pattern in its own right based on the scale and complicated composition which also does not share any of the features of the main pattern, but I have not yet found it documented. A simple double line border is painted inside the rim. Hatched blue crescent mark to base, c.1770-1780.
It measures 29cm (11 3/8") wide and 12.7cm (5") high.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. Surface wear is very light and excellent for age including the inside with only very minor scratching but no discernible wear to the glaze or pattern. There is a short firing crack to the inside face of the foot and some very fine minor black speckling around the underside of the belly and foot.
