About this item
Fabulous large first period Worcester pedestal sauceboat decorated in polychrome enamels, c.1765. A basketweave texture covers the body bar sme smooth cartouches either side and to the front each with a a moulded frame of scrolls and arabesques. Garden flowers are painted in each and the mouldings over painted as a frame in puce and gilding. Lovely moulded detail to the foot and incurved rim also overpainted with puce and leaf mouldings around the spout picked out in green. Lovely double scrolled handle with ornate terminals and continued embellishment. Inside, further flowers are dotted about.
It measures 12cm (4 3/4") high, 21cm (8 1/4") spout to handle and 10cm (4") wide.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration and light surface wear good and appropriate for age and use.
