About this item
A very good 18th century Worcester blue and white porcelain butter boat moulded with geranium leaf exterior with irregular shaped rim and stalk handle. Finely painted with the "pickle leaf daisy" pattern, c.1758-1765. Workman's mark to the base.
Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section I.E.41.
It measures 8.6cm (3 3/8") long, 6.2cm (2 7/16") wide and 3.8cm (1 1/2") high.
Condition is excellent with no damage, chips, nicks or repairs. There are three small areas of kiln dust to the underside and a small amount of blue underglaze just below the rim on the underside. Minimal handling wear and the finely painted decoration has fired crisply.
