About this item
Very pretty early Worcester sauceboat, c.1755, formed as a cos lettuce leaf with finely moulded veined detail to the body, with a kink to the spout and a coiled stem to for the handle. This one is painted in polychrome enamels with flowers inside and out. Moulded exotic leaves and berries sit either side of the handle which are painted in bright colours, as are the moulded knots and nobbles along the "stem" in a rich red brown. The rim and further lines highlighted along the body are also in the maroon brown.
It measures 23cm (9") long, 10cm (4") wide and 12cm (4 3/4") high.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. Light surface wear, really just a bit of rubbing to the red on the rim. There is a short firing line to the right of the handle and some dots from kiln dust.
