About this item
Pretty Worcester porcelain fluted cup ear shaped handle. Decorated in a very similar style to the later Caughley "Dresden flowers" style with underglaze blue and gilding, c.1775-1780. Floral sprays dot around the outside and the inside has a pretty band of garlands and droplets festooned from the rim. Gilt rim, band around the foot and details down the handle. Small blue crescent mark to base.
Reference: See Caughley & Worcester Porcelains by Godden, plate 274 for a comparison of the Caughley and Worcester versions of these fluted coffee cups with ear shaped handle.
It measures 6.7cm (2 5/8") high, 6.4cm (2 1/2") rim to rim and 8.5cm (3 3/8") rim to handle.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration and very minor handling wear. There is some kiln dust detritus under the base and here and there around the foot fractionally affecting the gilding.
