About this item
A fabulous large Worcester porcelain leaf dish with moulded vein detail and decorated with a blue scale ground. Mirror and vase reserves, framed with gilt scrolls and filled with finely painted European flowers, rotate around a central circular reserve painted with an exotic butterfly. Further shaped loose triangular reserves with gilt frames come in off the gilded rim painted with further floral sprays. Delicate gilt droplets emanate from the middle reserves across the blue scale ground and this is further embellished with delightful gilt insects. Blue square mark to the base, c.1770.
It measures 34cm (13 3/8") long, 24.3cm (9 5/8") wide and 5.4cm (2 1/8").
Condition is very good; there is a very small chip to the reverse of the handle. No other damage, repair or restoration. Very minor surface wear just to the enamel on the high points of the moulding in a couple of places. Otherwise the enamels are good and bright and the gilding is also in very good condition.
