About this item
Pretty first period Worcester small mug, c.1785. Boldy decorated with an ornate mazarine blue with an oriental feel of dotted flowers and then beautifully fine, feathery gilding creates the linking foliage smothering the mug and sweeping up the blue flowers. A wide blue band runs around the rim with gilded arabesques and interlinked chain effect band overlaid and final gilded rim. Classic grooved strap handle with simple gilded pattern and detail at the terminals.
It measures 9cm (3 1/2") high, 11cm (4 1/4") rim to handle and 7cm (2 3/4") rim to rim.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration and very light surface wear to the decoration on the body, slightly more at the rim.
