First Period Worcester Porcelain Pine Cone Oval Basket c.1770
A very nice Worcester porcelain basket of oval shape printed the the centre with the ever popular pine cone pattern, c.1770. Curved walls are finely pierced and decorated inside with a pattern of diaper print border along the rim and trailing foliage hanging from small floral rosettes. The outside walls have individual flowers applied at every intersection and at each side is a raised facet shaped handle; the terminals covered with a fan of individual acanthus leaves and small flowers. Unmarked.
It measures 21cm (8 1/4") wide by 14.3cm (5 5/8") deep and 6.5cm (2 1/2") high.
Condition is very good, there has been a very neat, almost invisible repair to one handle. No other damage or restoration and unusually no discernible damage to any of the individual petals and leaves and minimal surface wear.
