About this item
Pretty early Worcester porcelain chestnut basket decorated in polychrome enamels. Pierced lattice form walls, grooved on the outside, with scalloped rim and foot, and green rope twist handles terminating in large finely modelled decorative stems, leaves, flowers and buds applied over the basket walls. Puce painted simple daisy form flowers applied at each lattice cross and inside a large central painted spray of flowers in green, puce, purple, orange and yellow and individual flowers dotted at the cross points.
It measures 20.5 cm (8") long, 19cm (7 5/8") wide and 10cm (3 7/8") high.
Condition is very good: there has been a small professional repair to one of the handles at one side, please see the close up photos. No other damage or restoration. Surface wear is very light in the main, just a couple of frits to the gilding on the rim and a few minor chips to the edges of some of the petals.
