    About this item

A lovely early Minton bone china tea and coffee trio in the "N" shape with slightly fluted, waisted shape with shaped rims and raised curved handle with unusual moulded paw shape lower terminals and splayed flower shape uppers. Finely painted in oriental style inside the cups and saucer with small areas of underglaze mazarine blue and enamels in a loose imari palette in orange shades, green and pale blue with lots of gilt ornamentation. The outside of the cups has elements of the inner pattern of flowering vines running as a frieze against the white ground. The coffee cup and saucer marked with pattern number 512 in gilt.

Reference: A Compendium Of British Cups by Michael Berthoud, plates 757 and 758.

The tea cup measures 9.7cm (3 13/16") rim to rim and 5.1cm (2") high to the rim. The coffee cup measures 8.1cm (3 3/16") rim to rim and 6.8cm (2 5/8") high to the rim. The saucer measures 14.4cm (5 11/16") wide and 2.5cm (7/8") high.

In very good condition with no damage, repair or restoration. Some gilt wear to the centre of the saucer but very minor handling wear otherwise.
