About this item
Pretty early Worcester sauceboat with invcurved shoulders and small pedestal base, c.1760. The body with vertical mouded panels with floral framed cartouches and reeded detail to the foot. Painted with large floral sprays in polycrome enamels in lovely rich colours of puce, iron red, blue, green and lemon yellow and highlighted with a maroon red to the rim, top of handle and around the foot. The flowers spread around the sides and across the shouders. Inside there is a morning glory flower in the centre of the base and a further red flowered spray in the spout.
It measures 18cm (7") long, 9.5cm (3 3/4") wide and 9cm (3 1/2") high.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. Light surface wear; a bit of wear to the red on the rim, and a small firing line above the handle.
