About this item
Pretty first period Worcester lozenge shape dish with shaped rim and fluted sides, c.1770. Painted with a central reserve of flowers framed with a dark turquoise ground band with zigzag edge sandwiched between a gilded border and fine gilt scallop shells painted between the points. A further ornate gilded garland border and turquoise band run around the edge of the dish.
It measures 9 3/8" long, 6 5/8" wide and 2 5/8" high.
Condition is good with no body damage or restoration. There is a small glaze loss on the underside at the rim edge and 4 chips to the foot rim itself. Some surface wear to the enamel and gilding mainly along the high points of the flutes and the rim was gilded but now only remains in traces. There is some slight oxidisation to the turquoise showing slightly more green in places.
