    About this item

A pretty Flight, Barr and Barr period Worcester porcelain dessert dish, c.1820-25 with a claret ground and central, very finely painted landscape reserve of a view of Godstow Bridge, near Oxford. A lovely summer's day is depicted showing a gentlemen riding on horseback across the bridge with 2 girls walking along the river bank in the foreground. The reserve ringed with a gilt band and the shaped edge with gadrooned rim is also double ringed in gold.

Marked to the reserve in script with the named view "Godstow Bridge, near Oxford" and the factory address mark "Flight Barr & Barr, Royal Porcelain Works, Worcester - London House / Coventry Street".

    It measures 20cm (7 7/8") wide and 3.5cm (1 3/8") high.

Condition is very good with no damage or repair. A bit of surface wear to the claret ground mainly to the edge where it curves down into the bowl, the highest traffic area as you may expect. The enamelled scene is in good order, just a couple of very minor scratches and none to detract. The gilt rim is also very good with just a few gilt losses to the tips of a small number of the gadroons and no frits or chips as if often the case.
