    About this item

retty Worcester spiral fluted tea bowl and saucer with 24 wrythen facets and shaped rims. Painted with red and blue cornflower sprigs in a barbeaux style with gilded stems and leaves, dotted small gilded leaf sprigs and gilded rims.

    Unmarked, Flight period c.1790.

    The tea bowl measures 5cm (2") high and 8.5cm (3 3/8") wide. The saucer measures 3.2cm (1 1/4") high and 13.7cm (5 3/8") wide.

Condition is good; the saucer has a short fine hairline measuring about 1" from the rim. This has been stabilised and there is a small area of over-spraying on the front with the hairline to towards the left edge. There has not been any body restoration under the re-decoration and it is minimally detracting aesthetically. The tea bowl is in very good condition. Both pieces have some handling wear to the gilding on the rims, just a little on the bowl and more so on the saucer. The enamels are nice and bright and the central sprigs in the centre of the bowl and saucer are also fine.
